Another Oscars has come and gone, but this year will likely be talked about far longer than most of its previous years. This year a Steve Harvey worthy mistake was made in the wrong Best Picture being announced.
This mistake was probably worse than Harvey’s though as everyone from La La Land were already up and ready to deliver speeches before the mistake was rectified, giving Moonlight the win.
This entire incident begs the question of how? With an event this big there should have been no reason for Warren Beatty to be given the wrong card. Everyone from La La Land must have been devastated as well to have such an amazing win stripped away.
With how much buzz this will garner, precautions will hopefully be made to ensure nothing like this happens again and someone will probably take the blame for giving Beatty the wrong card.
Other than that entire fiasco, this year’s Oscars were incredibly enjoyable. The jokes and jabs throughout brought plenty of laughs the entire 4 hours. Meryl Streep was even given a standing while being called “overrated.” Kimmel and many award winners used their spotlight to throw jabs at President Trump and talk about current issues going on in this country. Two of the award recipients weren’t even present due to the travel ban.
Kimmel constantly attacking Damon were probably the funniest parts of the entire event, especially when Kimmel attempted to play Damon off during the category announcement. Overall, Kimmel did an excellent job at being a host and hopefully will be back to host again in later years.
These year’s Oscars have definitely left their mark and will be talked about much in the weeks to come.
