The Fate of the Furious, the latest chapter of the racing action-adventure movie series, follows Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) trying to establish a normal life. While in Cuba, Dom meets a woman who is called Cipher who forces Dom into betraying his family.

The movie actually surprised me! When you are eight movies into a franchise, I would expect the movies to be flat-out stupid and pointless. But somehow the Fast movies keep going strong.

Great action sequences are one reason why. My favorite is the prison break where Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Ian Shaw (Jason Statham) go to town and start dropping prison guards left and right. The music that played during the scene made me want to jump out of my seat and start throwing punches.

The acting was not incredible, nor was it awful. No actor stood out to me, but then again, we have to consider that the acting is never going to be amazing in these films. It will always take a back seat to the fast cars and insane action.

My absolute favorite thing about the Fast and Furious franchise is the message they deliver. If you pay attention, you’ll catch that every movie somehow ends up with the theme that family is everything. Some people might think it’s stereotypical and overused, but I love it.

The Fate of the Furious has the same formula as the last “Fast and Furious” movies but keeps the franchise going strong with more explosions and action. If you are in the mood for some crazy action, check it out.
