This week we interviewed one of Bullard’s top swimmers, Austin Peterson. Austin tells us what he loves about his sport and why he does it.

Q: How long have you been swimming?

A: I’ve been swimming for 5 years.

Q: What grade did you start?

A: I started in the 7th grade.

Q :When did you realize you loved swimming?

A: I realized I loved to swim after my first swim meet.

Q: What’s your favorite part of meets?

A: I’d have to say the relays.

Q: Who taught you how to swim?

A: My beautiful mother taught me how to swim.

Q: Would you encourage others to swim?

A: Yes, its a great team environment and it gets you in shape.

Q: What’s your favorite event?:

A: My favorite event is the 500 meter race.

Q: Why?

A: It’s the event that involves stamina and it’s one of the hardest I’ve faced.

Q: Do you play any other sports?

A: Yes, I also play water polo.

Q: Do the two sports compliment each other?

A: Yes, they are both water sports.

Q: Do you hope to continue your career after high school?

A: Yes, my goal is eventually play D1 water polo or swim.
