This past weekend our very own Bullard Knights Competition Cheer team attended Nationals, a big competition in the cheer world. We were able to catch up with Acesalley Robledo, a junior, who’s a backspot on the Competition Cheer team.

Q: When was nationals?

A: March 24th-26th.

Q: Where was nationals at?

A: It was in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Q: What division we’re you guys in?

A: Our division is ‘Large Varsity Show Cheer Novice.’

Q: Besides competing, what else did you do while you were there?

A: Besides competing, I went to Downtown Disney.

Q: Can you describe the feeling of nationals?

A: Nationals was very intimidating and there was tons of people. In warm ups, if you were on the mat, all eyes were on you from other teams. The feeling of when you walk on the floor is amazing, lights are shining bright and the only thing you see is the judges. It’s honestly an amazing feeling and I wish I could do it for the rest of my life.

Q: Did the team move on to finals, and if so what place did you guys get?

A: Yes, we moved onto finals. On the first day we got second place and on the second day we got fifth place.

Q: What’s your favorite memory from that competition?

A: My favorite memory was getting to bond with my team and meeting new people backstage.

Q: If there was one thing you could go back and change, what would it be?

A: If I could change one thing, I would want to change what place we got the second day.

Q: Do you plan on continuing doing competition cheer?

A: Yes, I will continue Competition cheer until my senior year because I absolutely love it.

Q: Now that Nationals are over, what does the Competition team have in store for us?

A: Honestly, Competition Cheer will hopefully keep getting better and better. Next year, we hope to bring back a national title!
