The Drama Club was host of a showcase in the Bullard theater Friday night (March 24).
The show lasted almost an hour and consisted of about nine students who each performed an act that was 3-4 minutes long. These acts included singing, playing an instrument, dancing, and reading a poem.
Each performance was separated by a short introduction by two masters of ceremony, Rick Dunaway and Ulysses Lopez. They provided plenty of puns and dad jokes for the audience. It was cheesy but fun. The theater was more than half full, and it was clear that everyone enjoyed the show.
Julia Turner, a freshman in the Drama Club, sang an acoustic cover of The Walters’ “I Love You So” for the showcase. This was her first time singing by herself in front of an audience, and it was made all the more difficult because her microphone kept cutting out.
“Honestly, I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be. It was actually really fun, despite the microphone issues,” she said.
Overall, everyone did a great job in the showcase. It was definitely an amazing show.
