After Gru is fired from his anti-villain agency in “Despicable Me 3” and announces he will not return to a life of crime, his minions leave him. But while Gru tries to establish a relationship with his long-lost brother, he decides he’ll do one big heist and call it quits.

This movie is simple to follow. I haven’t seen any other movies in the series but was able to follow the story just fine and quickly became familiar with the characters and their personalities.

Another thing I enjoyed about the film was that it didn’t drag on by adding unnecessary scenes or dialogue between characters. It was short, funny, and kept the kids entertained. Another animated summer release, “Cars 3,” dragged on, which made the kids get bored and lose interest. Thankfully, “Despicable me 3” stayed on track.

If there was one thing I didn’t enjoy about the movie, it was that the characters were sort of platonic and didn’t surprise me at all. Just by watching the trailer, you can instantly identify which persona they will have in the movie. I don’t know about you, but I think that’s a little lame and makes the movie predictable.

Last but not least, the humor definitely makes the movie. It’s silly and dumb, but it’ll make everybody laugh. I find myself laughing mainly at the minions and their mischievous activities.

“Despicable Me 3” keeps the franchise going strong and is definitely worth a watch.
