Spring love is in the air and there’s no better way to embrace it than with a ‘not so ordinary ‘ love story. Love, Simon was based off of the book Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. The movie does not follow novel exactly, but it tells the best parts of it.

Simon has a normal life, a good family, and crazy friends– an ordinary life of a high school senior. Yet Simon has one big secret: he’s gay. This movie targets a serious subject for this generation, as it shows how many people could have an ordinary life but are scared to show the world who they really are. Not only does this movie target that particular subject, but it’s totally relatable for anyone in high school and it is hilarious. The fact that people can relate to this movie makes it ten times better. Although this movie is truly amazing, it has received its share of bad reviews, particuarly from homophobic people, who have left comments such as “We don’t want to watch that gay crap,” or “Take Simon off.” There are very few of bad reviews but many many good ones.

Not only does the movie have a good storyline, but it has recognizable actors as well. Most of these actors are from the hit show on Netflix, 13 Reasons Why, such as the talented Katherine Langford who played the Netflix series’ main role as Hannah Baker. She was given a great role which she portrayed very well. I couldn’t be more pleased with the character choice in this movie.

Love, Simon is a heartfelt film that gives you a warm feeling while watching it. It’s a great movie to watch with anyone. It teaches you to accept everyone no matter what, and to “Embrace the Weird.” I highly recommend this movie for anyone, because everybody will Love Simon.
