Boy’s Varsity Soccer: Bullard Vs. McLane

January 17th, 2024

The Bullard boys’ varsity soccer team took on the McLane Highlanders in a tense, eventful game. Bullard fell short to McLane with a score of 2-1. McLane had the most ball possessions and chances created in the game; Bullard was struggling to break down this tough McLane team. I was able to interview the only goal scorer for Bullard, senior captain Sammy Venegas (forward) and how he thought the game went. He states, “We played decent, I really don’t know how to feel at the moment, but we have to keep our heads up and push forward.” With this loss, the Bullard Knights record now is 8-7, with their next game against Edison Tigers at home in Bullard. McLane’s record now is 12-5-2 with their next game on the road against Sanger.

When talking to Bullard junior captain Eli Vera (midfielder) he was talking about the season and how it’s been. He goes on to say, “This season has had its ups and downs, the team has dealt with injuries, but we are still working hard day in day out.” With more than halfway through the season for all schools, playoffs are approaching for all teams at the beginning of February. Each team has a lot on the line to secure a spot in the playoffs. The real question is: which teams will make the playoffs and ultimately go on to win the championship?
