The bridge on Florida International University in Miami campus was 175 feet tall and weighed 862 ton; this bridge crash had crushed 8 vehicles and killed 6 people.

There were also 10 people that were injured and taken to the hospital. The ages of the injured people in this tragedy ranged between 20-50. Authorities want to search and clear all the debris, and they want to see if there could have been any evidence that could have led to anyone tampering with the bridge.

According to a tweet by the Florida senate, the bridge had loose cables and they were working on it periodically prior to the crash. The bridge was made for students’ safety, after one student had been killed after trying to cross the intersection.

The President of Florida International University said this bridge was built like every other thing being built at Florida International University, and he does not think it was the construction workers’ fault or anyone’s fault; the cables had simply gotten loose and they didn’t have enough time.

Those that were injured had level 1 trauma and suffered broken bones and bruises. The cost of the bridge was 14.2 million, and it was able to withstand a category 5 hurricane.
