Many people on our campus are realizing that this year’s seniors are the last of the ’90s generation to graduate from high school. Being a part of the end of an era can be exciting for students but bittersweet for teachers and administrators.

Seniors on campus are proud to be the last class born in the ’90s. It almost makes them feel much older than the under classmen. “People will always remember the graduating class of 2017,” Lizette Adame said.

“It’s nice to know that we are the last ’90s senior class,” Isaiah Soto said.

When you’re a teenager, it’s cool to feel significantly older. When you’re a teacher, not so much. Economics teacher Mrs. Vannata is one of those who feels wistful that the last ’90s class is graduating.

“It is unbelievable how fast time flies,” she said. “I still remember the day I graduated from high school.”

English teacher Mrs. Macy said, “It’s weird to think that this is the end of the 20th-century senior classes.”

Administrators on campus feel much the same way.

“It must be exciting to be the last ’90s senior class, but to me, I feel sad, because it feels like I graduated from high school  long ago,” said Lorinda Zavala, who provides safety on campus.

Vice Principal Mr. Torigian said, “This is not only the end of a chapter but the beginning to a new one.”

Although the adults on campus have a bittersweet feeling, they are all excited to see the last ’90s class graduate. Bullard’s seniors will graduate at 4 p.m. June 5 at the Save Mart Center.
