The Conjuring has held the title of ‘one of the best horror movies’ sense it release back in 2013 for its enticing and frightening but semi-real story line. But it’s been over a decade since it came out and there is some speculation as if it still holds this title as one of the best horror movies. Especially considering how many new horror films have been released after the Conjuring. So, is the Conjuring still worthy of the title of one of the best horror movies?
The Conjuring was a captivating watch with its semi real story line of Ed and Lorraine Warren helping the Perron family with a Demonic entity within their home. it was an entreating intriguing twist of the real encounter and extraction Ed and Lorraine had done back in 1971 with the real Perron family. The acting added to much of the enjoyment of the movie as well much of the fear that the actors presented felt authentic and vivid alongside which the acting of the scare actors within the movie, their acting wasn’t over the top or straight gore but genuinely shivering quotes and acting that built on and expanded the plot of the movie.
If you add this to the tone and atmosphere of the movie you have the makes of a great horror movie and that is what the conjuring is a captivating and startlingly movie. It may not be the most frightening or stomach-turning movie, but it was never meant to be. It was meant to be an enjoyable but still chilling twist of the 1971 investigation of Ed and Lorraine Warren. Even though it may have more competition with newer equally compelling horror films like Insidious or Annabelle, it still does hold its spot as a recent classic and captivating horror film overall.
