Bullard’s Boys’ Tennis is back in season! The Bullard charger got the opportunity to talk to one of the their team captains, 11th grader, Casey Shapiro. Their first home game is February 23, 2017.

Q: How long have you been playing tennis?

A: Since I was four years old.

Q: What is your favorite thing about playing tennis?

A: My favorite thing is that I’ve met so many people. I got my first job from playing tennis so that’s just a cool aspect about it for me.

Q: Why did you decide to play tennis?

A: It wasn’t really my decision, I just made the decision to stick with it over the years. I started playing tennis because I was small as a child and my mom didn’t want me getting hurt playing football. I never got into soccer, but when I started tennis I really liked it and stuck with it, and here I am now.

Q: Do you plan on playing after high school?

A: I do, I am currently looking for scholarships with colleges. Maybe not division one , but division two NCA.

Q: How has tennis impacted you?

A: Tennis has given me a lot of good friends over the years, it’s taught me to be patient, to be smart about decision making, and it has kept me in shape.

Q: What are you looking forward to most this season?

A: We have lost a lot of guys over the past two years and so this season we’re just looking to rebuild and we’re planning on going to valleys again next year. So, this year we’re just looking to work really hard and play our best against other teams.

Q: What makes a good team captain?

A: Being positive and reassuring to all your teammates. If they’re down a match yell at them in an encouraging way 3 courts down.

Q: Why do you recommend tennis to your other schoolmates?

A: Not only is it a cool way to meet new people, but you can’t really injure yourself while playing and it betters yourself mentally and physically.
