The Bullard Knights debate team not only placed second in the valley championships but also qualified for state! The team is made of just a small number of eight students, with the tournament only having only five entries. These Knights took the win in International and National Extemporaneous Speaking.

There were thirteen high schools that competed and Bullard worked very hard to earn that title. Stockdale, Clovis North and East, Buchanan, Edison, Patino, Lemoore, Frontier, Orosi, and Bakersfield High all competed. Bakersfield Christian High School was the school that took a higher placing in our division.

Bassam Salhi and Jordan Waters are now headed to Florida because of their placing. Salhi placed 3rd in Lincoln Douglas Debate and qualified in three events. Waters made 1st alternate when he competed in the final round in the Lincoln Douglas Debate and also earned a speech spot to state in Extemporaneous Speech.

Our team also had Michael Markarian and Ricardo Torres who made the Octo-finals in forum debate. Max Salazar and Cameron Flowers researched, planned and also debated, and they will have another chance in two weeks. These Knights of Argument gave their all, and our school is very proud and can’t wait to see what they bring in the future!
