The last of us was originally a game developed by Naughty Dog made into a show for Max. This game came out on June 14, 2013, on PlayStation. About 7 years after the release of the first one, they published a second one. Fans loved the second game, they found it sad yet entertaining with a good plot.

The last of us is based off desperate times during a “zombie” apocalypse. These “zombies” are called infected in the show. The infected are way more intelligent and better than normal zombies. There is two main characters, Ellie Williams and Joel Miller. Joel Miller lost his daughter to a cop shooting her.

On January 15, 2023, Max came out with a show for The Last of Us. Within 2 months, the show gained 40 million viewers. Some did not like the casting for the main character Ellie Williams and other side characters. It was easy to get by due to the show being too good to care for.

About a year later, September 26, 2024, they released a preview for The Last of Us season 2. The game players for the original game were happy that they finally got a second season and will see their favorite characters finally come to the show.

Even though their excitement was high, it quickly died down when they saw the casting. 2 of the new main characters look nothing alike compared to the original game. For example, Abby Anderson, she is known for her strength and muscles and looking a bit masculine despite being a woman.

The next new main character fans didn’t like the casting for is Dina Woodward. She is a brown girl with a hooked nose with her hair slightly messy and up. In the show, she has a blow out during an apocalypse. The actor also doesn’t have a hooked nose. That at once makes it a bit unrealistic and unlike the character.

These features that the new main characters lack are important to fans because they admire the unique designs of the original characters. It’s not often that shows and games will include a muscular, masculine looking woman. Fans also liked that Dina was the only woman in the game with a hooked nose. They seem to have no hate for the actors themselves, but towards the director and producer.

I also agree with what the fans of the game are saying. I was looking forward to good casting and seeing the new characters’ iconic features. I believe the show will be good, but the casting is not in my opinion.
